In this painting I wanted to juxtapose the childish innocence with the spirituality that monks seek, as well as modernity with tradition. I painted this on La Carte paper without an underpainting. I wanted a bright blue background and reiterated that blue in the phone that the little monks are holding. I kept the rest of the palette warm to contrast with the coolness of the blues.
