Bugeisha means martial artist in Japanese. This is a portrait of a Japanese woman dressed in Samurai armor. This is a part of the Goddesses and Warrior series that I painted as part of the Me Too movement to empower women. The background shows Hokusai's Great Wave off Kanagawa depicting immense nature's force that literally tosses around fragile human beings on the boat.
