This painting 'Vendor' is part of my ongoing fortunate series Faces and Stories. I saw a long story and rough journey behind the eyes of this young man, selling kid lifebuoys and toys on the beach of Palermo, Sicily. I tried to capture both the summer colorfulness and the candor of the man's shirt. But above all the intensity of his face.
