This painting was the product of two days of painting including one evening simply observing the scene for about 30 minutes, allowing my eyes to fully adjust and committing to memory. The following night I returned to the same place about 40 minutes later when the moon was in the same position to paint the scene. Although I work with a light on my easel at night, I find the light hinders my night vision so I largely relied on my memory from the previous evening.
